The second international airport in Rome is Ciampino Airport, located just east of the city. Depending on the type of transfer, you can reach downtown Rome in 20 to 45 minutes. The airport is mainly served by low-cost airlines. Transfer costs from Ciampino Airport to Rome are very reasonable for an international airport, with fares starting from as low as 2.70 euros to get into the city center.
Airport Transfer with Shuttle Bus
Several private companies offer a shuttle bus service at Ciampino Airport. In about 45 minutes, these Wi-Fi-equipped buses comfortably take you to Rome's main train station (Termini). The buses depart directly from the forecourt/parking area of Ciampino Airport and return there as well, running every 30 to 45 minutes. Tickets start at 4.00 euros per person for online deals, averaging 5-6 euros depending on the provider; tickets become cheaper when booking outward and return together.

Airport Transfer by Public Bus / Taxi / Train (AirLink)
Public Bus: The cheapest way to get to downtown Rome. Bus line 520 goes to "Subaugusta" (transfer to Metro Line A); bus line 720 goes to "Laurentina" (transfer to Metro Line B). Tickets for both buses cost 1.20 euros, plus 1.50 euros for the metro ticket, totaling only 2.70 euros per trip. Expect about 1 to 1.5 hours of travel time including transfers.
Taxi: Fixed price of 30.00 euros for a trip to the city center within the city walls - no surprises in cost. With four passengers, the cost is 7.50 euros per person, only slightly more expensive than the shuttle buses.
By Train (AirLink): Ciampino Airport does not have a train station at the terminal - the Ciampino train station (Zone B) is a bit away, connected via a COTRAL shuttle bus (~5 minutes, 1.20 euros). From the station, train lines FL4 and FL6 head towards Termini and reach it in about 12 minutes (additional 1.50 euro ticket, or a Zone A+B time-based ticket). With a good train connection, you can be at Termini in less than 45 minutes.
