Rome's second international airport is Ciampino, located a bit east of the city. Depending on the transfer option, you can reach central Rome within 20 to 45 minutes.

The airport is served mainly by low-cost airlines. For an international airport, the transfer costs from Ciampino into Rome are very reasonable. You can get into central Rome for as little as €2.70.
Airport Transfer by Shuttle Bus
Several private operators run a shuttle bus service from Ciampino Airport. In about 45 minutes, these Wi-Fi-equipped buses take you comfortably to Rome's main train station (Termini). The buses depart from and return to the forecourt/parking area right at Ciampino Airport. Depending on the operator, buses run every 30 to 45 minutes from the airport, and in the other direction from Termini. The ride itself takes about 35 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Tickets start at €4.00 per person for online offers. The average price, depending on the operator, is more like €5.00 or €6.00. Tickets get cheaper still if you book the round trip together.
Tickets can be bought directly on-site at Ciampino Airport or in advance online. You can buy online tickets for the Ciampino-to-Termini airport transfer directly through Terravision or Sit Bus. That saves you the wait at the airport ticket counters, and often the online price is lower too, since on-site prices tend to run higher on busier days.

The cheapest way into central Rome is a public bus. Two different bus lines stop at Ciampino Airport. Line 520 runs to its final stop, "Subaugusta," where you can switch to Metro Line A and continue into the city center. Line 720 also stops at the airport and takes you to "Laurentina," where you can switch to Metro Line B. For both bus lines, you buy your ticket directly on board for €1.20; add the metro ticket (€1.50), and your total cost comes to just €2.70 per trip. Budget about 1 to 1.5 hours for this transfer, including the transfer time.
Airport Transfer by Train (AirLink)
Unfortunately, Ciampino Airport doesn't have its own train station at the terminal. Ciampino's train station (Zone B) sits a bit away from the airport. A shuttle bus run by "COTRAL" provides a direct connection there, taking only about 5 minutes from the airport to the station. The single ticket can be bought directly on the bus or at the airport terminal and currently costs €1.20. From the station, the FL4 and FL6 train lines run toward the main station (Termini), reaching it in just 12 minutes. This requires another ticket, €1.50, which you can buy at Ciampino station. Alternatively, you can use a time-based ticket (such as a weekly pass) covering Zones A and B for the train ride.
We've had very good experiences with this transfer. With a good train connection, you can be at Termini in under 45 minutes.
Airport Transfer by Taxi
Another option for your airport transfer is a taxi. With a fixed rate of €40.00 for a ride to the city center within the old walls, there's no risk of price surprises. Especially if your flight lands late or your plane is delayed, a taxi transfer is always worth considering. Split between 4 passengers, that's €10.00 per person, only slightly more than the shuttle buses. A taxi also takes you directly to your accommodation.
